Brady Corporation manufacture and market solutions that identify and protect people, products and places. They want their products to perform in ways that others simply don’t. Their ethos is all about performance and exceeding expectations. That’s why innovation is so important to them and the reason that they’re firmly established as a global leader in their field. Brady had devised a safety sign concept that could potentially be completely exclusive in the market so they wanted to work with a team of designers who were open to new ideas to explore it further.
Making safety design simple
The issue to overcome was a floor sign that doesn’t fall down or get knocked over. We worked closely with Brady to develop their concept further, providing sketches to present different ideas. We produced CAD prior to prototyping and worked with the manufacturer to ensure it fitted with the moulding process. Prototypes were produced, tested and we worked hard on the finer details. Strong market credentials were added – being compact to store, easy to assemble, and the ability to connect so that a whole safety barrier could be created. We worked closely with both our customer and manufacturer to make sure production costs were minimised, and that rapport is one that has since led to a strong business relationship. Launched as the 360° floor stand this product became successful very quickly and it’s easy to see why. It’s a unique, attention-grabbing safety design that always ensures the safety message is visible at every angle.
