Simple Design Works signs Armed Forces Covenant

We join a growing number of Herefordshire organisations as forces-friendly employers: Simple Design Works joins 14 other businesses to formally pledge its support to the Armed Forces community at this years Military to Business Showcase held at NMITEs Skylon Park campus.

NMITEs sixth annual Military to Business Showcase took place on 19 June where Simple Design Works joined other businesses in their support of more than 9,000 veterans registered in the county.

The showcase brought together local businesses, veterans, service leavers and their families to explore new learning pathways and career opportunities through an ongoing collaboration between businesses, education and the Armed Forces community.

Commitment to the Armed Forces community

Our commitment to signing the Armed Forces Covenant represents a promise to those who serve or has served in the Armed Forces, that along with their families, are treated fairly and are not disadvantaged in their day-to-day lives.  An aim strengthened over the past six years through this annual event.

Kristo said: “The event was alive with ideas, collaboration and genuine camaraderie. It was an excellent opportunity to catch up with friends and business connections while forging new relationships in the local business community“.

By signing the Armed Forces Covenant, Simple Design Works join a growing network of organisations committed to supporting veterans, service personnel and their families.

Government's Plan for Change

The event was attended by several prominent political figures. This includes Jesse Norman MP (Shadow Leader of the House of Commons), James Cartlidge MP (Shadow Secretary of State for Defence), and Alistair Carns MP (Minister for Veterans and People). The MPs discussed the importance of collaboration and outlined the Government’s ambition for small and medium-sized businesses to play an expanded role in future defence opportunities.

Al Carns DSO OBE MC MP, Minister for Veterans and People, and MP for Birmingham Selly Oak said: “This government is committed to renewing the nation’s contract with those who serve and have served as part of our Plan for Change. Leaving well is a vital part of that and I am delighted to see the work that NMITE is doing to give veterans the best opportunities”.

The NMITE Military-to-Business Showcase continues to serve as a vital platform for connecting the Armed Forces community with local enterprise, fostering opportunities for career transition and business development in the region.
